Who is TJFrog?

How was TJFrog spawned?

TJFrog refers to my first and middle names, Tania Jane and Frog a homage to my avid and lifelong collection of frogs! Not the real ones, although I love them too and have rescued them crossing a main road on their way to breed!

TJFrog was a childhood name I assigned to myself – as you do!  Taught to knit by my Nan at a very young age I seriously got back in to knitting in 2008 and on discovering knitters ‘frog’ their work back when ripping out a mistake, TJFrog was the obvious name choice for my creative business.

From a rekindled love of knitting to a chance opportunity to learn about Dorset Buttons TJFrog, aka The Button Lady finally fully launched at Edinburgh Yarn Festival 2015.

Further adventures as the tadpole grows!

Since that first crazy event in which so much enthusiasm and support was shown for the Dorset Buttons, my hubby, Geraint, inadvertently and reluctantly (although I know he secretly loves it!) has taken on the role of TJFrog Staff; all things website, driver, lifter & shifter, wool labeller, kit packer and specialist 'staff without portfolio' at yarn shows!

TJFrog is a business which steadily grows always with the Dorset Buttons at the core, combining Dorset where I was brought up with the Isle of Skye, now my home.

I love to chat about Dorset Buttons, share my knowledge and skills in the hope that this heritage craft lives on for generations to come.  And what’s not to love about using many materials you already have to finish off and jazz up your projects?

TJFrog's life away from Dorset Buttons

With a full career in the Royal Navy behind me working in graphics and people development, a business in training and performance coaching along with studies in all the “ologies” – biology, geology, psychology I am a self-confessed life-long learner who continually strives to challenge myself in all that I do.

When I’m not working on my business or my professional development I can mainly be found knitting or exploring the Highlands with Geraint in our camper van, Lochan.  I also love to dabble in crochet, cross-stitch and drawing, love collecting books and I’m partial to a Gin & Tonic!

While an introvert at heart and extremely shy (they are different!) I quietly love to be social and meet fellow crafters with the opportunity to while away time together as we create.
