Hello – it’s been a while. Thank you for joining me once again and welcome if you are a first time listener.
The Weather
2024 has started with a month of interesting weather with much to talk about.
I loved weather watching the snow and all the different light, and missed the ‘sound of snow’ when it was replaced by the wind and rain of Storm Isha, Storm Jocelyn and Storm Ingunn and all the other unnamed storms before, between and after!
Despite this the snowdrops and daffodils are pushing through.
I chat about my new lamp to give me a daily boost.
Wildlife has included orcas which I missed again! Although we were fortunate to watch a couple of otters playing, fishing and eating and there’s a spider update!
Creativity
After losing my knitting mojo I’ve mainly focused on a wool tapestry.
There’s an update on my NPs – Neglected Projects and how I managed to finish the Belmont Cardigan by Gudrun Johnston.
I made a new Shetland Wool Week hat with some gorgeous hand spun, hand dyed yarn from Elizabeth Johnston and another shawl, Burrafirth by Gudrun Johnston.
I give an update on my Debbie Abrahams Mystery Blanket 2017 and the Mystery Cushion 2023 and the Return of the Lac (i.e. entralac) by Milli of Tribe Yarns.
I took a trip to Barcelona Knit Fest in November and chat about a couple of purchases.
And with a loss of knitting mojo I explore some of the other creative activities I’ve been doing – painting, colouring and jigsaw puzzles.

I’ve had a bit of a spring clean and will be stripping back some of my offering. My theme for 2024 is ‘Less is More.’

Skye Focus – the local lowdown
How to get to Skye – Part 1 of a 3 part series:
Glenelg to Skye ferry – which is the last manually operated turntable ferry in the world.
This is a wonderful trip and worth adding to your visit if you can factor in the time. The link above will take you to their website which is full of fascinating history about the ferry, as well as interesting information about the experience of the journey and the sight seeing opportunities along the way.
Below is a video I took of the ferry when it arrived at the slipway when we went on it for the first time in July 2023
