I’ve been visiting the Highlands of Scotland for over 30 years now, yet I never tire of the landscape and the moods created by the seasons and the ever-changing weather. Last week following a few days working in West Lothian, I took the opportunity to travel further north, catch up with friends and take a look at our house renovation on Skye.  The heavy overnight rain had ceased and the last colours of autumn provided a colourful backdrop on my journey along the A887.

This carpet of leaves added a sunny feel to the day.

Autumn 2

Whilst this view of Dundreggan Reservoir, River Moriston instilled a great sense of calm and tranquility in me.

Autumn 3

The overnight lightning display on the Sleat Peninsular, Skye had been taken over by a day of squally winds, ferocious hail showers and sunny periods.

The return journey through Glen Coe saw me jumping out the car with my phone to capture this waterfall and natures’ beautiful surrounding carpet of orange, brown & deep rust tones.

Autumn 7

Autumn 6With a light dusting of snow on the mountain tops, moody clouds and the sun peaking through every now and again it would have been a great day to spend time on Rannoch Moor watching the ever changing light.  Alas I had to leave and journey on. Still only a handful of weeks to my next visit when the Highlands last colours of autumn will have been replaced with the early wonders of winter.

Bye for now . . .
