Last year work took us to Denver, Colorado giving me the perfect opportunity to visit Fancy Tiger Crafts.

Celebrating their 11th anniversary on 8 July 2017, Fancy Tiger Crafts describe themselves as specialising in ‘supplies for the modern crafter.’   And walking in is like being enveloped in a big woolly hug.   Then as you take a double take & realise the extent & selection of products on offer, that’s when the ‘oohs & aahs’ start!  They have a serious amount & variety of yarn.

There is also an extensive fabric collection, notions & other fibre craft delights.  Their wonderful fabrics even make me think I could be tempted to get a sewing machine!

And what a collection of ribbons & trims!

With so much temptation I didn’t know quite what to buy!  They had a good range of Madelinetosh, a yarn I’d only ever seen online or knitted up.  The one to catch my eye was an Aran weight in deep browns  & blues.  With the name of Whisky Barrel I decided it was destined to come back to Scotland with me!

My trip to Denver also coincided with the “Yarn Along The Rockies,” a mammoth yarn crawl taking in 17 yarn shops in Colorado.  Alas our stay did not enable us to get along to any of the other shops – bad planning on our part!

As part of the event Fancy Tiger Crafts were sharing this free pattern, the Hops Cowl.

It uses 2 skeins of Knerd String Fingering Weight yarn, and these are the colours I chose.

It’s a great knit & I love how the travelling slip stitches are used to create a flowing pattern along with the garter & reverse stocking stitch.

I have yet to knit up the other Knerd String yarn I purchased – this is destined to be a T-shirt style top.

For my last purchase I could not resist their Heirloom Romney destined to become some slipper boots.

The staff were incredibly helpful & friendly and even checked a pattern out on Raverly for me to make sure I had the right quantity of yarn.  The shop is owned by Jaime and Amber & I got to meet Jaime and we spent most of our time chatting about Skye!

Work again takes us back to Denver this year & I’m really excited that on Sunday 16 July from 1 – 4pm I will be delivering a Dorset Button workshop at Fancy Tiger Crafts.  I cannot wait to be back at this shop, meeting local knitters & crafters & spreading the word of Dorset Buttons.

I am already pursuing their website so I can be ready to make my purchases!

Bye for now.
