Knitting Cushion Kit – Lewisian

Lewisian Tartan Cushion

40cm x 40cm

Designed by Scottish knit & crochet designer Carol Meldrum for TJFrog.

‘Carol loves a stitching challenge, mixing up techniques, taking the traditional giving it a twist, and generally making things.’

These cushion designs sum up exactly what Carol loves to do.  Inspired by a traditional tartan Carol has used intarsia, stocking stitching and couching techniques along with the colourful palette of the TJFrog Shorelines & Strata wool to bring this wonderful collection together.

Each cushion in the range is named after one of the 4 main rocks which underlie the Sleat peninsula landscape where TJFrog lives on the Isle of Skye.

Lewisian metamorphic rocks, which were formed around 2,800 million years ago are some of the oldest on Skye and stretch along the Eastern side of the peninsula from North to South.  The colours are reminiscent of the shells, pebbles and seaweed which can be found along the shorelines.

***Bonus – Zoom call with Carol for kit purchased by Monday 6th December (2359 GMT)***

The Zoom call will be on Thursday 9th December at 7pm (GMT) where Carol will demonstrate the techniques used in the project; intarsia, couching, buttonhole, mattress stitch and answer any questions you may have about the project or her design work in general.  Sit and knit while you watch and listen to Carol.
